I particularly like how you get at the issue of our relationship with a musical text, and you've reminded me of some themes that came up during my conversation with Bruce Brubaker. The tendency to see scores as having—needing—definitive form or interpretation is a relatively new thing historically. Sunday night's concert will be a good counterbalance to that tendency.
