$6, Garfield Artworks, 4931 Penn Avenue. 412-361-2262.
Virtuoso experimental guitarist Kelli Rudick grew up in Tel Aviv, lives in New York. Plays acoustic guitar with looped electronics, mbira (thumb piano) and ”nail violin”. Toured with Kaki King and collaborated with The Books. Scored music for The L Word, Queer Eye, and several independent films. Developed powerful and expressive extended techniques, using every timbre the instrument has to offer by slapping, tapping, bending, restringing and de-tuning. Expect captivating atmospheres and rippling melodic structures - fans of ‘postrock’ (Sigur Ros, Explosions in the Sky) and multi-layered neoclassical composition will enjoy it. Opening sets by local electroacoustic performers Discuss, Torus, and Johan Nystrom.
